The idea of The Shepherd's Farm came into being in 2019 but, the rationale could be trace back in the late 1980s when I use to live with my parents. My both parents were involved in animal husbandry, my mother in particular and this greatly influenced my life. At a very tender age, I developed a strong passion of raising and breeding of domestic sheep due to the influence of my parents.
My memory recalled when I was at age 17, with early experience in animal husbandry; I was involved in the raising, breeding and selling of domestic swines. I could also recall that I started with minimal number 2 impregnated swines which eventually grew in course of time to over 120 swines.
Sometime in 2019, I successfully registered The Shepherd’s Farm as a business entity that solely involves in the raising, breeding and selling of various types of domestic sheep. As at that time, I started with the Assaf, Bali Bali, Touabire and the Polpol breed but however, the Ladoum eventually became the main part of the business.
The farm has over the years provided and is still providing a dependable source of income to me and my employees through sales, lease and other profitable means. It also served as a means of food production to the members of the community. Finally, the farm will minimise the rate of unemployment in the community as a significant number of people will bee employed to manage and coordinate the affairs of the farm.
